Irish Getaway Dinner
Due to the corona virus and the latest directives from the governor's office, we have postponed this dinner for at least 4 weeks into April. We will re-evaluate the proper time to hold this event over the coming weeks. We appreciate your understanding during these trying times.
Bleu Cafe is pleased to announce the next in our series of Culinary Traveler's Club dinners. On Tuesday, March 24th we will bring you our "Irish Getaway Dinner".
This dinner will celebrate the food and music of the Emerald Isle, and will consist of five courses and a complimentary cocktail. We created a menu of traditional comfort foods that the Irish enjoy every day at home, and their favorite local pubs.
Traditions are important to the Irish and so is their food. They love a good pint, a good meal shared with friends, and of course lots of lively conversation. In fact they have a saying to express this, "Company makes the journey fly".
We at Bleu invite you to share in this time tested tradition. Gather your friends and family and join us for a special evening of Irish comfort food.
Did you know that corned beef and cabbage isn't Irish per se?
In Ireland people really don't eat corned beef and cabbage. It is an Irish-American dish. In the mid to late 19th century there was an influx of Irish immigration into America and most of them were very poor. They brought with them their tradition of "Sunday boiled dinner". It consisted of some type of meat, potatoes, carrots and cabbage, cooked together in a large pot. Most meats were too expensive, but corned beef was affordable at that time. The Irish-American favorite of corned beef and cabbage was born!
Choose from Guinness Extra Stout, Hard Cider, Jameson Irish Whiskey or Baileys Irish Cream.
